About the creation of my pictures – a search for traces
Through macrophotography, I discovered the fascinating color aesthetics of weathered surfaces, their morbid structures and layers that tell stories as traces of time. My preoccupation with enlargements of particular details, sharpened my eye for all that lies “hidden”, for semi-transparent, fragmentary layers, mysteriously interwoven traces of time.
Thus the exciting working theme of “the search of traces“ was born for my entire creative oeuvre, based on the idea of always showing past times in my pictures.
Paintings
To give more focus on the natural in my paintings, much space is left to the process of creation, the development of the pictures. Through the continuous working process time and by this aging should be made visible; the final picture is at the same time a testimony to its own genesis.
The informal material pictures, mainly worked in earth colors, develop over a longer period of time. Fragments of design are left behind: not only the tension between different materials but also the intentional destruction create cracks, color- and form networks that cover the work like a chapped skin.
By theming and visualizing traces of time, I consciously set a counterpoint to the aesthetics of the sterile and smooth of our time. In this, I give a value to the traces of aging in my works with the intention of awakening awareness of their characteristics and natural beauty.
Photographic Art
My photographic art developed from the working method of my process painting, in which I create deep effects through multiple layers of color and material as well as partially clearing some parts.
By the tension between several photo layers an illusion of space shows up.
The motifs are presented in a new and unusual context. The seemingly abstract pictures do not unfold at once, but only in the conscious process of perception.
In search of familiar patterns and signs, one embarks on a search for trace.
